Jadon Sancho 'doesn't sleep enough' and plays too many video games

Jadon Sancho ‘doesn’t sleep enough’ and plays too many video games, according to bosses at his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United news, exclusives and analysis

Sancho left Dortmund for Manchester United in 2021 – with the Red Devils paying around £73m for him – but the Englishman has largely struggled at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old has registered just 12 goals and six assists across 82 games for United, a major drop off from his time at Dortmund, where he scored 50 times and provided 64 assists in 137 matches.

Sancho is currently banned from all first-team facilities at United after a nasty public fall-out with manager Erik ten Hag and looks set to depart in January, with the player reportedly attracting interest from both Dortmund and Barcelona.

However, a potential return to Dortmund has been thrown into doubt, with German outlet Bild reporting that the Bundesliga club’s bosses still have concerns over Sancho’s discipline after his first spell with them.

They claim that Sancho was regularly late for training, did not get enough sleep and stayed up until the early hours of the morning playing video games on his console or computer too often.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag appeared to aim a subtle dig at Sancho in his pre-match programme notes before the Carabao Cup match against Crystal Palace.

‘Pressure is part of life at Manchester United for everyone involved in club,’ Ten Hag, who publicly hitting out at Sancho’s performance levels in training earlier this month, wrote on Tuesday.

‘The demands are never easy because expectations so high and everybody is watching.

‘But you don’t wear this crest to have an easy life, you wear it because you are capable of handling the responsibility.’
