Top 30 men’s tennis stars in prize money including Djokovic and Murray
A list of tennis’ top earners has revealed some surprising names including six-time Wimbledon US Open and five-time Wimbledon champion Bjorn Borg making less than 20-year-old Carlos Alcaraz. It might not be a big surprise to some, with Borg winning his titles in the late 70’s and early 80’s, but it certainly shows how much money has been put into the sport over the decades.
After only being professional for two years, Alcaraz has made a whopping £17 million in career earnings despite being a teenager just five months ago. The young Spaniard won the US Open in 2022 defeating Casper Rudd before going on to beat Novak Djokovic at the Wimbledon finals in an instant classic.
Meanwhile, the 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic is atop of the list by over £32 million from Rafael Nadal in second place, with the Serbian dominating the sport over the past decade.
Now retired Roger Federer is in third place, making £105million from his sensational career, going down as arguably the greatest of all-time alongside Djokovic, while Andy Murray is in fourth place with £52 million.
The list does not account for inflation, with the likes of Boris Becker, Andre Agassi, Ivan Lendl, Stefan Edberg and Yevgeny Kafelnikov featured later in the list.
Impressively though, Pete Sampras has made the fifth amount of all-time, despite retiring over 20 years ago.
American Andy Roddick also cracked the top 30, despite winning just one Grand Slam – the US Open in 2003 – and retiring at the age of just 30.
