Carlos Alcaraz sparks injury fears at Paris Masters as Djokovic holds ATP talks

Carlos Alcaraz will begin his Paris Masters campaign later today, with the Spaniard set to face Roman Safiullin after being given a bye in the first round. The Spaniard is returning from a brief injury hiatus and will soon be looking to snatch top spot in the ATP rankings from Novak Djokovic, who will not begin his campaign until tomorrow.

Alcaraz will be looking to make a strong start by getting the job done against Safiullin, who has already racked up three wins in the French capital in the qualifying phase. The latter defeated Alexandre Muller in the first round but will certainly be expecting to face a much tougher test against the reigning Wimbledon champion.

Djokovic, meanwhile, will play tomorrow and is still waiting to discover who he will be going up against in the second round. The Serb has also been given a bye but finds himself on the same side of the draw as Jannik Sinner and Ben Shelton, who could be lying in wait in round three.
