Rangers hopes of reaching the Champions League group stage are in the balance after Luuk De Jong’s late leveller earned PSV Eindhoven a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their play-off.

Abdallah Sima gave Michael Beale’s side the advantage on the stroke of half-time, with the on-loan Brighton forward curling an effort into the top right corner following a lay-off from Cyriel Dessers.

The Dutch side, who dominated possession at Ibrox, earned their reward in the second half when Sangare finished off a fine team move.

Sangare struck from close range after Ismael Saibari cleverly dummied Johan Bakayoko’s low cross.

Rabbi Matondo restored Rangers lead with the substitute firing after a stunning counter-attack.

Rangers were prevented from taking a lead into next week’s second leg when De Jong headed in Bakayoko’s corner 10 minutes from time.
