Nick Pope makes wonder save ‘straight out the Vatican’ with knee to deny PSG

Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope has been lauded by fans for a wonder save in their crucial Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Premier League side previously defeated the French champions last month in a 4-1 thrashing at St James' Park and travelled to Parc des Princes on Tuesday (November 28) in a pivotal battle for Champions League qualification in Group F.

It was the away side that took the lead after Alexander Isak pounced on Gianluigi Donnarumma's mistake as the Italian parried Miguel Almiron's shot straight into the path of the Swedish striker who tapped in with ease to put Newcastle 1-0.

PSG have continued to hunt for an equaliser as they currently sit second in their group and are just three points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund who defeated AC Milan 3-1 away from home who have qualified for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Kylian Mbappe and Fabian both had chances to level the scoring before substitute Bradley Barcola had a golden opportunity to get PSG back into the game but his strike was miraculously denied by Nick Pope who used his knee to divert the shot away for a corner.
