The Newcastle fan who was involved in an argument with Kieran Trippier after his side’s defeat to Bournemouth has admitted that he regrets his actions.
Newcastle lost 2-0 away to Bournemouth, with that result following on from a defeat by the same scoreline against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
After the game against Bournemouth Trippier took exception to a comment from the fan.
Joelinton attempted to pull Trippier away but the right-back was then seen discussing with the fan about the amount of injuries that Newcastle have.
Responding to the supporter, Trippier was heard shouting: ‘So the lads are not giving everything? How many injuries have we got, how many injuries have we got? Hey?’

Newcastle fan Thomas Willoughby has now come forward and says that he regrets his actions.
Responding to a post on Facebook from the Newcastle United Supporters’ Club, Willoughby wrote: ‘It was me, I travelled all day and was very frustrated with the performance.
‘I regret having a go at them because I know what all these players have done for this club.
‘Everyone’s done stupid things. I hold my hands up and admit I shouldn’t have had a go at them that much but was just heat of the moment.’
During his post-match media duties Trippier was questioned on the argument but looked to play down its significance, insisting there is no need to panic.
‘The fans are emotional, of course they are,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘They have travelled a long way, they spend a lot of money to come and watch us.
‘I was just having a chat with one of them, I said we are giving everything.
‘There is no need to panic, we are still in a good position in the league, we are still in the Champions League, Carabao Cup quarter-finals, there is no need to panic.
‘We got beat, we do apologise for that result, but the most important thing is that the lads are giving everything. We are giving more under the circumstances.’
Magpies boss Eddie Howe also commented on the incident, saying: ‘Kieran is fine.
‘Emotions run high, we all feel emotional. No problems. We thank all of our away support, that was tough for them today.’
Newcastle are currently in seventh place in the Premier League.
