Man Utd can trigger clause, Chelsea rip up deals, Liverpool’s £45m bid

Seven Man Utd transfers Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants answers for as trio set for January exits

Manchester United could be just one of the Premier League clubs who decide to delve into the transfer market in January. The Red Devils have been exposed time and time again this season and are on the verge of exiting the Champions League following their 3-3 draw with Galatasaray on Wednesday night. United twice blew a two-goal lead in Turkey and remain bottom of the table ahead of their final match.

With over a third of the Premier League season having already been played, Arsenal are the team who top the table. The Gunners have won nine of their 13 matches and are a point ahead of second-place Manchester City.

Arsenal came unstuck during the latter stages of last season and they were leapfrogged by eventual champions City. And the Gunners could also attempt to bolster their squad in January, a year after they missed out on Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea.

Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of players ahead of the January window as Todd Boehly continues to bankroll the club. And the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa will also be under pressure to spend in their quest to keep pace with the teams ahead of them in the table.

Liverpool set to bid for Thuram

Liverpool are ready to invest £45million to sign Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, according to TuttoJuve. The Reds have asked for the conditions of completing a transfer for the 22-year-old and could beat Juventus and Inter Milan to the player’s signature.

Thuram has impressed for his current employers in Ligue 1 and also has one France cap to his name.

Chelsea set to rip up deals

Chelsea will reportedly pull the plug on two transfer agreements in January in order to please Mauricio Pochettino.

Andrey Santos has endured a nightmare loan spell at Nottingham Forest, with the 19-year-old having played just seven minutes of Premier League football this season. And the Blues are ready to bring Santos back to Stamford Bridge at the turn of the year in order to avoid harming his development, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Meanwhile, the Evening Standard report that Diego Moreira could also see his loan spell cut short when the transfer window opens for business. The teenage winger, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in the summer, is currently at Lyon but has only made one start and two substitute appearances since moving to the Ligue 1 strugglers.

Man Utd can trigger clause

Manchester United could take advantage of a bargain transfer opportunity next summer, with Jeremie Frimpong’s Bayer Leverkusen contract reportedly containing a modest release clause. The marauding full-back is putting up superb numbers in the Bundesliga this season as Xabi Alonso’s side look set for a title battle with Bayern Munich.

However, Sky Germany are reporting that the long-term deal includes a £34.6million release clause, which becomes active next summer. Leverkusen may regret setting the bar so low given Frimpong’s scintillating form.
