‘I interviewed Ronaldo – Sir Alex jumped at me and Utd icon’s daughter split us’
Geoff Shreeves has recalled a Manchester United icon's daughter breaking him and Sir Alex Ferguson apart as he interviewed Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Sky Sports legend, who left the broadcaster after three decades of service earlier this year, was the man behind the microphone for many of Sir Alex's interviews during his legendary tenure at Old Trafford.
It's fair to say the pair had a rollercoaster relationship, with Fergie, 81, the only manager Shreeves, 59, truly clashed with. Speaking to bettingsites.co.uk, he explained: “I never fell out with [Jose] Mourinho.

"Pep [Guardiola] I’ve had a few frosty exchanges with, and Arsene Wenger didn’t take it too well when I asked him if he thought he might be relieved of his duties after they just lost 8-2 at Old Trafford. That didn’t go so well."
A sit-down with Ronaldo saw him nearly come to blows with the Red Devils boss. "One time I did an interview with Cristiano Ronaldo which Sir Alex took exception to and he had a pop at me," Shreeves continued.

"I had a pop back and then he physically jumped towards me, and a press officer – Dennis Law’s daughter – jumped in between us and said ‘stop this, stop this!’."
Shreeves previously revealed that the bust-up was because Fergie had a mix-up with the time and thought he'd overrun his slot with Ronaldo before a Champions League tie away at Sporting Lisbon in 2007.

While he was at one stage banned from attending United's conferences, Shreeves relished taking on Fergie and his equally challenging counterparts.
“They were such huge characters. Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Mourinho, along with Pep and Jurgen [Klopp], they’re the five grand dukes I loved duelling with the most," he said.
"When you’re going in there to interview them, you’re trying to get an answer for your viewers, so it’s how far you are willing to push them; a lot of that depends on your relationship with them."
