FPL injury update providing Bowen, Haaland, Udogie, Mitoma latest for GW13

Man City lead Premier League title race as Liverpool move to second

Another international break has come and gone and the focus once again is turned to the Premier League and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for over eight million managers. As usual, several key players have picked up injuries over the past two weeks and Express Sport has taken a look at the latest updates regarding some of the most popular picks in the game ahead of Gameweek 13.

Erling Haaland is the most popular player in FPL and a host of managers will have been worried after he withdrew from Norway’s squad with an ankle injury. He picked up the knock in their 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands and was forced to miss their following Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland.

Norway boss Stale Stolbakken played down the severity but with Manchester City taking on Liverpool in the weekend’s first match, fears grew over whether he would be able to play. However, Haaland is said to be on track to be fit for the top-of-the-table clash and several managers will be putting the captain’s armband on him against the Reds.

Jarrod Bowen has been one of the most popular transfers in this round but having pulled out of the England squad through injury, over 290,000 new owners will be hoping that he is fit for West Ham’s trip to Burnley.

He returned to the Hammers for a scan on his knee injury and reliable insider ExWHUEmployee claimed that they showed fluid on his knee and Bowen will see a specialist to determine how long he faces on the sidelines. However, it does not represent positive news for FPL owners as Bowen is likely to be a doubt to face Burnley.

Tottenham star Destiny Udogie has proven to be a popular asset as managers have capitalised on Spurs’ impressive start to the season. The Italian did pick up a hamstring injury before the break that ruled him out of international duty, prompting concern over his availability to face Aston Villa on Sunday.

But the player himself confirmed to The Athletic that he is “feeling really good” and will “definitely” be ready to face Villa, in music to the ears of FPL managers.

Kaoru Mitoma is another popular player that FPL managers will be worried about after he pulled out of the Japan squad for their World Cup qualifiers. “Since this is a World Cup qualifier I joined the team believing in my potential to contribute,” Mitoma said.

“But unfortunately, seeing as I won’t be able to play at 100 per cent, I’ve decided to let my team-mates play on my behalf, as much as I regret doing so. For now, I will work hard on recovering as soon as possible.”

The Athletic have claimed that he is likely to miss Brighton’s GW13 trip to Nottingham Forest, while his team-mate Evan Ferguson also picked up a knock on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
