Erik ten Hag ‘time to go’ say fans after Copenhagen calamity in Champions League

A section of Manchester United fans have seen enough under Erik ten Hag – and think it's time for him to be sacked.

Following a poor start to the Premier League season and League Cup elimination, United sit bottom of their Champions League group after four matches having lost to all three of their opponents.

The Red Devils slipped to a 4-3 loss against Copenhagen having led 2-0 before Marcus Rashford was sent off, having already lost to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray before a narrow home win over the Danes.

A third posted: "So… how much time does Ten Hag have??" As another social media user joked in response: "About 4 mins stoppage."

A fifth agreed: "I'm sorry but we cannot go on like this. Can't sack the players. He has to go #TenHagOut."

Other views were more balanced with Paul Scholes insisting on TNT Sports that the Dutchman needs more time having impressed in his debut season last time out.

He said: "I still don't feel like there's that much pressure on Erik ten Hag. He had a good year and bought some time. He's had bad injuries but nine defeats in 17 is not good enough.

"I know United have sacked before, but I don't think they can afford to keep doing that.

"Ten Hag got unlucky tonight, but United put up a good fight. They lacked a bit of leadership. It's not easy to play away in Europe.

"It's just that collapsing that's hurting them. Once they concede one it feels like another is coming. You can't keep doing that every week."

Attention now turns to the visit of Luton Town in the Premier League before the international break, with United already out of the League Cup and nine points off the pace in the table.
