Ryder Cup star’s hotel is luxury £900-a-night venue with Michelin restaurant
The golfing world is set to descend upon Rome this weekend with Team Europe and Team USA set to face off in the 44th iteration of the Ryder Cup.
The storied trophy is currently held by Team USA, who will be led by captain Zach Johnson at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. Last time the two sides faced off was back in 2021, when Team USA inflicted Team Europe's worst Ryder Cup defeat upon them, beating them 19-9 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.
But, this time around, European captain Luke Donald is looking to win back the Ryder Cup, which Team USA have not won back to back since the 1990s when they won it in 1991 and 1993. However, when the two teams are not competing out on the impressive Marco Simone course, they will be spending their time relaxing in the equally incredible hotel.

The Rome Cavalieri, a Waldorf Astoria hotel, is where the two teams are staying. The stunning five-star facility is just over a half an hour drive away from the Marco Simone. And it also boasts an impressive food offering in the form of a three-star Michelin restaurant inside the hotel – La Pergola – too.
The restaurant is described as a "temple of international gastronomy and the only three star Michelin in Rome". While it will likely be no issue for the golf stars staying at the hotel, regular diners will be set back €320 (£278) for their 10 course menu, which includes "a fine selection of cheese from the trolley" and "purple shrimp on licorice extract with spinach heart and borlotti beans".

The menu for the three star restaurant was put together by award winning chef Heinz Beck, who has over the years won five Michelin stars across multiple different restaurants. Additionally, a stay at the impressive venue, which was built in 1963 and features arts galore in the form of tapestries, portraits, paintings and antique sculptures, will also set guests back around £900-a-night during high season.
Over on the Ryder Cup YouTube channel, British pro and former Ryder Cup winning captain Colin Montgomerie gave fans an insight into where the likes of Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler and Brooks Koepka will be staying. In the video, Montgomerie tours the hotel offerings, taking fans inside the lavish rooms, testing out the beds, trying out the gym, sampling the cocktails and having a bite to eat as well.

And it's safe to say that judging by their Tripadvisor reviews, the vast majority of guests seem to enjoy their stay at the prestigious hotel. One reviewer wrote: "Can highly recommend Rome Cavalieri for anyone searching for unforgettable luxurious experience in Eternal City."
Another commented: "The cavalier is the best hotel in Rome. The location overlooking Rome, the pool is by far the best in Rome. The fitness center is large and has plenty of equipment." A third said: "Beautiful hotel! Good food, helpful and friendly staff."
And a fourth added: "The Rome Cavalieri Hotel was very beautiful with wonderful staff who were efficient and paid attention to all of our needs."
