Pat Cummins has launched an extraordinary attack on Lord’s members following their hostile altercation with the Australian cricket team during the Ashes, with the captain describing the patrons as ‘pork chops’.
There were ugly scenes at the Home of Cricket during this summer’s dramatic series, with members taking issue with Alex Carey’s controversial stumping of Jonny Bairstow on the final day of the second Test – which the Aussies emerged victorious.
Usman Khawaja and David Warner were seen engaged in a verbal back-and-forth with the members, who were accused of ‘getting physical’ with the players as they returned to their dressing room.
Different members were also alleged to have aimed several expletives at the players, as well as calling them a ‘disgrace’, ‘liars’ and telling them to return home.
And Australia skipper Cummins has shot a brutal jibe at the members, labelling them ‘pork chops’, despite stressing that he grew ‘immune’ to their criticism.

‘Maybe I’ve become immune to it,’ he said via the West Australian. ‘The worse they carried on the more I realised it doesn’t matter because they look like pork chops.
‘If I felt there was any truth to what was being said, or if it was being said by someone I respected and not the crowd, it might have been different.
‘I didn’t feel like it was too difficult. It was pretty clear cut that it was out and we conducted ourselves very well.
‘I saw a lot of people carrying on, getting really riled up, and then I looked at our team and I thought everyone was brilliant, and calm and measured.
‘I was pretty happy to be on our team. And I was pretty comfortable with our position.’

England would bounce back to level the series and were denied a chance of completing a historic comeback after rain washed out the fourth Test at Old Trafford.
Stuart Broad then riled Australia after being involved in the controversial claiming of Marnus Labuschagne’s wicket during the final Test.
The now-retired pace bowler swapped the bails around a ball prior to the Australian being caught behind by Joe Root.
