Manchester United fans have been given another reason to bask in the glory of defeating arch rivals Manchester City after Bruno Fernandes was spotted shushing Pep Guardiola.

The Portugal international has certainly made an impression since joining the Premier League club from Sporting Lisbon in January with standout performances for his new side, with pundits and fans lavishing praise on the midfielder for his leadership qualities.

And towards the close of Sunday’s mammoth win over City, Fernandes showed he would not back down from City boss Guardiola as the pair traded verbals near the touchline at Old Trafford.

Fernandes then puts his finger to his lips in a shushing motion to tell the City boss to be quiet

During a break in play, Guardiola throws the ball away from Fernandes and can be seen talking to the 25-year-old, who responds in kind before putting his finger to his lips and then waving his hand towards the ground, telling the City manager to be quiet.

United fans have gone wild following the incident, who is quickly earning a reputation as a fan favourite among the Old Trafford masses.

United were under pressure to pick up all three points following Chelsea’s resounding win over Everton as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side looked to keep pace in the race for the top four.

Fernandes was at the heart of Manchester United’s attacks, winning the crucial free kick which he delicately lofted towards Anthony Martial who lashed home in the opening 30 minutes.

The Portuguese maintained his discipline as United snuffed out City danger throughout the second half before Scott McTominay doubled United’s lead in the dying seconds after a calamitous error from Ederson.

United are looking far stronger since Fernandes’ arrival, as Solskjaer’s side look to pose strong challenges in the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.
