Khamzat Chimaev choked Li Jingliang unconscious just one minute into his long-awaited UFC return on Saturday night – before declaring he will "kill everybody" in his path.

Chimaev, who had been out of action for 13 months due to a gruelling battle with Covid-19, showcased his breathtaking potential upon return against Li at UFC 267.

The 27-year-old slammed his welterweight rival into the fence within seconds of their Abu Dhabi contest, before pinning him on the floor and choking him out.

Li was supposed to provide a stern test on the night, but Chimaev, who was seen talking to UFC President Dana White during the bout, was simply too strong and too vicious.

After rendering his opponent unconscious directly in front of White at the Etihad Arena, he warned in his post-fight interview: "I will kill everybody.

"I said [to White], 'I am the king here, I am going to stay a long time. I am coming for everybody.' I said I was going to kill him and I did. He slept."

Chimaev's victory means he is on the joint-longest UFC finish streak behind heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, having also ended his previous three contests inside the distance.

The Chechen-born Swede submitted John Phillips on his UFC debut in July 2020, blitzed Rhys McKee inside a round 10 days later and knocked out Gerald Meerschaert in 17 seconds two months later.

When asked who he is targeting next, Chimaev exclaimed: "Everybody, everybody. I am coming for everybody. I kill everybody."

White is certainly a big fan of the Stockholm star, saying after Saturday's event: “Listen, last time we were here, we knew this guy was special.

"This COVID thing is one of the weirdest things any of us have ever seen.

"You get some people that fit the profile to be high risk and it doesn’t even feel like a bad cold to them and then a guy who’s in phenomenal shape like this guy, gets hit as hard as he did by COVID.

"But he’s back and he’s no doubt this kid’s special.”
