Transfer news as Man Utd takeover deal off, Mo Salah ‘stance’ and Haaland offer
Transfer Deadline Day deals completed by deadline
Despite the transfer window shutting at 11pm on Friday, there is still plenty of business to be conducted this summer. Several leagues elsewhere are still able to buy and sell players, which is causing a major issue for some top clubs that have had their key stars highlighted as targets.
The Saudi Pro League transfer window is still open for over two weeks, and the chiefs of the division are hopeful of continuing their spending spree to lure established talents to the Middle East.
Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane all made the switch to Saudi this summer, and Al Ittihad will be hoping that their lucrative offers to Mohamed Salah prove decisive and he can link up with his ex-teammates.
David De Gea, Nicolas Pepe and others, who struggled to find suitors over the past few months, have also been tipped to head to the quickly-establishing league. Express Sport keeps you up to date with all the latest…

KEY EVENTS
Ramos joining Sevilla
Sergio Ramos is set to join Sevilla on a free transfer following his release from PSG.
Al Ittihad have been trying to sign the defender who has had plenty of offers from Saudi Arabia.
Ramos is now set to return to the club where it all started for him before his big switch to Real Madrid.
Everton midfielder on free agent market
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that former Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is among those free to find a new club.
He has had his Everton contract terminated by mutual consent following a terrible spell at Goodison Park that has been plagued by injuries.
Gbamin has spent time on loan in Turkey and Russia but has failed to make an impact on Merseyside.
Premier League clubs and teams around the world are permitted to sign free agents outside of the transfer window.
Klopp addresses Salah speculation once more
Jurgen Klopp insisted that he did not have any concerns about Mohamed Salah leaving the club or the headspace he may be in ahead of Liverpool’s match against Aston Villa.
The forward was the subject of a £150million bid from Al-Ittihad earlier this summer and the Saudi Pro League side are expected to return with an improved offer in hope of turning the head of the Reds star.
However, Klopp has no fears about the outcome as he is adamant that Salah will be a Liverpool player this season.
Asked about the speculation ahead of his side’s match against Villa, he explained: “I didn’t have to this was a media story and it never came through.
“’I have a big desk in my office, a lot of papers on there, a laptop, iPad, everything you need. None of them are busy with any kind of these news. I have a lot of other things to do and we haven’t thought about it. Mo was completely normal, good training week and nothing from my point of view to think about.”
Arsenal midfielder attracting interest
Arsenal star Jorginho is reportedly being targeted by Turkish side Fenerbahce as they look to bolster their midfield ranks before the end of the month.
The Italian was linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer after the arrival of Declan Rice pushed him further down the pecking order.
According to Ajansspor, Super Lig side Fenerbahce have highlighted the ex-Chelsea star as a potential target over the next few weeks as they eye a No 6 that can create from deep.
It is unclear as to whether the Gunners would entertain bids now that they can bring in a replacement, which could spell bad news for Leicester City as the Turkish outfit view Wilfred Ndidi as an alternative.
Mudryk labelled as ‘useless’
Gabriel Agbonlahor has hit out at Mykhaylo Mudryk’s performance for Chelsea as his side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest.
The forward has struggled since his arrival in the Premier League and questions are already being raised about whether he will justify his significant price tag.
One former player who is far from convinced is Agbonlahor, who labelled the Ukraine international as useless on talkSPORT.
He said: “Mudryk came on and he nearly gave away two goals! He was absolutely useless. He’s had 19 games, zero goals and they haven’t got a style of play.”
Ange Postecoglou explains thought process behind Brennan Johnson signing
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has explained why his side acquired the services of Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest on deadline day.
Spurs forked out £45million to secure the services of the versatile forward following his impressive debut campaign in the Premier League last season.
Speaking about his new signing on Saturday, Postecoglou said: “He’s just another exciting young player. He’s a real threat in the front third, he’s different from what we’ve already got, he’s young and ambitious. It’s no secret that’s the model for me.
“It’s just as much about the person as well as the footballer, and looking at him he’s going to fit in really well with this group. He’s ambitious and hungry and wants to take his game to the next level. The technical and the physical attributes he has, he should fit in really well.”
Getafe manager breaks silence on Greenwood
Getafe manager Jose Bordalas has broken his silence after his side signed Mason Greenwood from Manchester United on deadline day.
It was announced earlier this summer that following a six-month internal investigation, the Red Devils had agreed that they would offload the academy product despite charges of attempted rape and assault of a women being dropped against him.
Getafe pounced late in the window after Greenwood’s move to Lazio broke down, and their manager has since addressed the new signing.
He explained: “It’s a very delicate situation to trivialise that issue. Everyone knows what happened and appropriate measures were taken. Everyone knows how it ended, with a non-conviction. He’s a footballer of a very high level and arrives at Getafe with enormous enthusiasm. For our part, we will look to help him.”
United told that they should rue Haaland mistake
Ex-Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke has revealed that he believes his former side should have forked out the £150million required to sign Erling Haaland in 2021.
He told OLBG: “You can’t bet against Erling Haaland anymore, he’ll always score. This is why I said Man United should have bought him for £150m back in 2021. Haaland is unique, he may miss a few but he’ll score most of the opportunities he gets.
“Other sides of Haaland’s game can be developed, and it will get better because he’s only 23 years old. It’s frightening that he scored 36 goals and Haaland still knows he can improve to an even higher level, defenders should be worried for years to come.”
Man Utd takeover deal off
Manchester United are reportedly set to be taken off the market by the Glazers after they allegedly decided they no longer want to sell the club this summer.
According to The Mail, the American family performed the U-turn as they have not been able to attract a bid worth £10billion.
Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS have both tabled offers for the club and are the last standing bidders, but the pair have not come close to matching the Glazers’ valuation.
Haaland to receive eye-watering contract offer
Erling Haaland is set to receive a contract offer that will see him earn approximately twice as much as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, according to reports.
The Norwegian has picked up where he left off last season, scoring a hat-trick against Fulham to take his tally to six goals in four league appearances.
And the Daily Star report that City are set to reward Haaland for his efforts with a significant pay rise that will see him almost double his £375,000 per week wages and earn approximately £600,000 per week.
Pep Guardiola’s side are hoping to tie the ex-Borussia Dortmund star down on a long-term contract with impressive finances to prevent other European sides – notably Real Madrid – from making a move to sign him further down the line.
Salah’s behaviour since Saudi bid
Mohamed Salah has reportedly shown ‘no indication’ that he will force through a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, much to the relief of Liverpool chiefs.
The Reds rejected a £150million bid from Al Ittihad recently and are anticipating a fresh offer from the Middle Eastern outfit imminently.
However, despite the promise of an enormous contract in Saudi, Salah is not pushing for an exit from Anfield this summer and willing to continue playing his football under Jurgen Klopp – who has spoken openly about how the Egypt international is not for sale.
