Timo Werner sends fresh transfer message to Liverpool with "big team" claim

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has sent Liverpool a fresh transfer message by claiming he is ready to play for a "big team".

Werner has drawn plenty of admiring glances having scored 27 times in 35 games this season.

Jurgen Klopp is believed to be a big admirer of the 24-year-old German leading to strong links with a Liverpool move.

Werner has already launched a charm offensive towards Klopp and Liverpool with the growing prospect of a summer move.

He has now sent the Reds a further transfer message – by assuring them he is confident he is ready for the pressure of delivering for a top club.

"I think that I have the potential and possibilities to play for a big team," Werner told Sky Germany.

"I just think there are different procedures [at a big club]. When you say that you must become champions, you must go far in the Champions League, and when you must win the cup.

"When you use the word 'must', the pressure is completely different and much greater.

"I still have to learn to be 100 percent there every game and to know that every game is about winning the championship in the end."

After their recent win over Tottenham in the Champions League, Werner declared: "Jurgen Klopp is the best coach in the world.

"There is a lot to suggest that my style of play would suit there [Liverpool]."

Klopp was tight-lipped in response but admitted he was pleased to hear the comments from the striker.

He added: "I prefer that when players speak about us they are positive, rather than saying 'that's the last club I would ever go to'.

"From that point of view it's obviously nice, but that's all- there's nothing else to say about it."
