Thiago’s Liverpool goal branded ‘filth’ as fans swoon over ludicrous technique
Liverpool fans were completely awestruck by an absolutely gorgeous piece of skill by Thiago which broke the deadlock during the Reds' 2-0 victory over Porto on Wednesday night.
The win is Liverpool's fifth in as many games in the Champions League this season and, ridiculously, puts them 10 points clear at the top of Group B with a game remaining.
Mohamed Salah grabbed Liverpool's second of the night with 20 minutes to play, but the spotlight – quite rightly – will be on Thiago.
In a moment that was worth the admission fee alone, the former Bayern Munich star unleashed a sumptuous half-volley from the edge of the box after the ball was headed clear from a Liverpool free-kick.
The strike appeared to defy the laws of physics as the ball dipped down, then back up again before crashing into the bottom corner of Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa's net.
Liverpool fans, naturally, jumped on social media in an explosion of bliss.
"That Thiago goal is pure filth, just absolute filth, the way it skims the grass, looks almost surreal," one fan wrote.
"Ludicrous technique from Thiago," another wrote.
Another fan swooned: "That's the most aesthetically pleasing goal I've seen all season!"

After the game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was gushing with praise for his Spanish superstar.
"Incredible! I see that in training, I know he has the technique to do it but you don't always hit a thunderbolt like that," the German said.
"We needed some moments, some luck, they had big chances on the counter-attack."
Thiago's Liverpool career has been anything but smooth.
The 30-year-old has been plagued by injuries since arriving at Anfield last year and in spite of all his ability, doubts have been raised over whether he's quite suited stylistically to Klopp's high-energy, combative midfield.
Nevertheless, tonight's goal is all the proof Reds fans will need to justify his place in the team.
