Roy Keane left Paul Scholes out of Man Utd dream XI despite legendary status
Ex-Manchester United skipper Roy Keane did not name former team-mate Paul Scholes in his dream Old Trafford XI.
The two legendary midfielders dominated the Premier League for years, helping Man United win countless trophies and titles during their playing days alongside a host of stars. Of course, given how good United were during Scholes and Keane's time at Old Trafford, they both played alongside some of the greatest players to have ever graced a football pitch.
As a result, when it comes to picking a dream United XI for Keane, great players are bound to miss out – as Scholes did when the ex-Ireland international named his.

When asked to come up with his dream United XI for an ITV documentary, Keane replied: "Peter Schmeichel; Paul Parker, Jaap Stam, Gary Pallister, Denis Irwin; Paul Ince, Roy Keane, David Beckham, Eric Cantona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy."
However, Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, who had countless battles against Keane and Scholes during their playing days, was also part of the ITV programme, leading the Frenchman to quickly counter with what he thought of the latter omission.
"Scholes, no doubt about it," said Vieira. "I think Scholes, for me, was the best English player and one of the best United players that I played against. He can do everything."

But, in classic Keane fashion, the ex-United skipper would not back down, justifying his selection by saying: "Having a great career doesn't mean you are a great player – there's a big difference. I'm not saying Giggsy wasn't (great), but do I leave out Ronaldo, one of the world's great players? Do I leave Becks out?"
He added: "You don't win titles by having choirboys in your dressing room. Did Beckham challenge the manager? And it doesn't mean you are challenging the manager if you marry a certain woman – far from it."

And it seems as though despite some potentially viewing Keane's omission of Scholes as a snub, the latter has zero qualms with his former captain's selections.
"When people name teams, it's a matter of opinion," Scholes told Manchester United's official podcast. "Me and [David] May could sit here all day and pick 10 different teams, the amount of brilliant players that played here, so I wasn't bothered by it. I'm still not bothered by it."
