Alexander Isak would be a top signing for Arsenal, according to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand. Isak has again been linked with a move to Arsenal after initial interest in the player last summer. The Gunners are also said to be targeting Fiorentina hotshot Dusan Vlahovic.

Arsenal may soon need to enter the market for a striker due to doubts over the future of three current forwards.

Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both out of contract at the end of the season and have rejected offers of an extension.

Meanwhile, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be allowed to leave the club after he was stripped of the captaincy last month following a disciplinary breach.

Arsenal could realistically be in a situation where all three players leave.

Therefore it is understandable that rumours are rife about where Mikel Arteta goes next in the transfer market.

Ferdinand is a fan of Real Sociedad striker Isak and made a point of bringing up his name in his latest video on his YouTube channel Vibe with Five.

“I see in the paper this morning, in the media, about Isak, the Swedish boy,” Ferdinand said.

“He will be a good signing. Another young, talented player.

“He did really well in the Euros for Sweden I thought. He’s a talented player, man.”

Isak has scored just four La Liga goals so far this season but is highly-rated by those at the Emirates.

Ferdinand’s comments came before news from Italy that Arsenal had submitted a new offer for Vlahovic.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claims Arsenal have offered £46million plus Lucas Torreira for the 21-year-old striker.

Torreira, who is currently on loan at Fiorentina, is valued at around £12.5m to take the total of the deal to £58.5m.

Vlahovic has a far superior goal record to that of Isak.

He has scored 16 goals in 19 Serie A matches so far this season.

However, the Serbia international is out of contract in 2023 and has rejected all offers of a renewal.

Isak signed a new contract with Sociedad last summer to keep him at the club until 2026.

However, the 22-year-old has a release clause of around £75m.

Both players would fit in with the youthful nature of the Arsenal squad, which has been on average the youngest in the Premier League this season.
