Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has fuelled speculation that the club could be set to launch a sensational double swoop for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland. The Italian boss addressed the superstar attacking duo when asked about their transfer plans, hinting the La Liga giants could move for the pair in July next summer.

The Spanish outfit saw two bids rejected for Mbappe over the summer by Paris Saint-Germain reported to be in the region of £150-£160million.

That is despite the fact the French star is out of contract in June and can discuss terms on a new contract from January 1 with foreign clubs.

Mbappe has kept his options open by stalling over signing a new deal and could be set for a bumper pay day if he heads to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Spanish outlet AS report PSG have failed in their attempts to convince Mbappe to stay at Parc des Princes and the 23-year-old, who scored 42 goals in all competitions last season, looks set to depart.

Haaland has been linked with several of Europe’s elite clubs, such as Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG in recent times after exploding onto the scene with Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian striker has scored 70 goals in just 69 games for the German club since arriving from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.

His extraordinary goalscoring record has put him firmly on Madrid’s radar and the fact his £68m release clause becomes active this summer could tempt Los Blancos into making an offer.

When asked to discuss Real’s summer transfer plans, Ancelotti was somewhat reluctant to speak directly about Mbappe or Haaland following heavy criticism from PSG’s sporting director Leonardo recently.

But the 62-year-old revealed club president Florentino Perez is already plotting to make moves ahead of the summer transfer window — and suggested Mbappe and Haaland could be part of his plans going forward.

“Let’s talk about it [Mbappe and Haaland] later,” Ancelotti told Corriere dello Sport.

“Some time ago, I would have answered differently, but I’ve entered a moment of my life where I prefer to be in peace with the world, I don’t have time for disputes.”

Signing Mbappe and Haaland would mark a huge statement of intent from Real, who have made no signings of note since splashing out £300m on Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Eder Militao in 2019.

Perez would be wise to begin planning for the future, with Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Hazard all in their 30s and entering the final years of their respective careers.

And Ancelotti, in his second spell with the club after succeeding Zinedine Zidane in June, is hoping to stay at the helm should Real be successful in their attempts to lure the attacking stars to the Spanish capital.

“Real Madrid’s call was an amazing surprise,” the Italian said. “If it was up to me, I’d remain forever, there isn’t a better place than Real Madrid for football.”

He also added: “Everything remains the same here, except the coaches.

“Journalists, physios, warehouse workers are always the same, and so is the vision of the club.

“In one year, at the end of December 2022, we’ll have a new stadium and Florentino has serious intentions for July.”

Real currently sit at the top of La Liga a point ahead of Real Sociedad and 10 points clear of Clasico rivals Barcelona after losing just one of their 13 games this season.
