Reading ‘agree to six point deduction in Championship’ and further six suspended

Reading have agreed with the EFL to a six-point deduction as well as a further six-point suspended deduction after breaching spending rules.

The Championship side will have to comply with an agreed business plan for the remainder of this season, and the following campaign, to avoid the additional six-point penalty being triggered.

Championship sides are not permitted to lose more than £39million over three years.

And, according to the Daily Mail, Reading have reached an agreement after 'lengthy but amicable' discussions.

The six-point deduction will see Reading fall from 16th to 19th, leaving Veljko Paunović's side above the relegation zone.

Reading aren't the first Championship side to be deducted points this season.

Wayne Rooney'sDerby County were recently deducted a further nine points – from the 12 they had already been slapped with – for financial breaches.

Rooney's side are currently bottom of the table on minus three points.
