Ralf Rangnick’s ex-agent wants Man Utd to ‘always stay place below Liverpool’

Ralf Rangnick’s former agent has wished the new Manchester United manager luck but wishes they “always stay below Liverpool”.

Marc Kosicke represents a number of German coaches, including Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The agent claimed that he at one point also managed the interests of Red Devils manager Rangnick, who was appointed interim manager last month until the end of the season before taking on a consultancy role in the summer for two years.

And with Rangnick now firmly in charge of United with two Premier League wins under his belt, Kosicke revealed he was “happy” for his former client despite wanting his Merseyside rivals to be more successful.

Speaking to Sport1, Kosicke said: “I was surprised that it finally happened. Ralf had at some point become self-employed as a consultant and had an interesting mandate at Lokomotiv Moscow.

“I’m happy for him. A top club in the Premier League – that was his lifelong dream. Here, too, I wish him almost maximum luck.

“As long as they always stay a place below Liverpool, that’s okay.”

Kosicke went on to highlight the success which German coaches are currently enjoying across European leagues, including Thomas Tuchel, who won the Champions League with Chelsea last season.

He said: “You have to look at the current coaching market. The German trainers abroad currently have a good track record. Almost all of them are among the top 4 with their teams in the respective European leagues.

“Klopp and Tuchel in the Premier League, Schwarz in Russia, Schmidt in the Netherlands, Wagner in Switzerland. As is well known, the table does not lie.

“I believe that they [United] are now making use of Ralf’s know-how, both as a trainer and as a club builder and sports director, and say: ‘Come on, we’ll do it until the end of the season and maybe it will continue then’.

“Otherwise, Ralf should be at our side in an advisory capacity’.”
