Pundits Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher enjoy friendly banter at the Etihad… after Man United legend insisted claim that his old Liverpool rival should be ‘ashamed of himself’ for 7-0 celebrations was ‘tongue-in-cheek’

Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher appear to have put any beef in the fallout of Manchester United’s 7-0 defeat to Liverpool to bed after the pair appeared to share a joke on the Etihad pitch on Tuesday evening.
Former United defender Ferdinand was annoyed at the way that Carragher and Graeme Souness had celebrated Liverpool’s huge victory over Erik ten Hag’s side at Anfield.
Ferdinand later posted on his Twitter profile that his comments were ‘tongue-in-cheek’ and encouraged Liverpool fans to stop getting so ‘angry’.
It appears that Carragher had no ill feeling to the 44-year-old as the duo took part in some light-hearted banter while working for rival broadcaster’s prior to Man City’s Champions League clash with RB Leipzig.
Ferdinand and Carragher shared plenty of heated moments during there years of competing for two of England’s biggest clubs, however have enjoyed brilliant careers as pundits after deciding to hang up their boots.

An irked Ferdinand told his YouTube show Vibe with Five on Monday evening that Liverpool had a ‘small club mentality’ after slating Man United supporters following their stellar victory before losing 1-0 to Bournemouth in their next game.
Ferdinand ranted: ‘That is a small club mentality. That screams small club. Screaming and celebrating we beat Man United, they battered us hands up.
‘[Graeme] Souness and Carragher was celebrating, the way they were trying to antagonise the guys and then their team goes and does that at the weekend.

‘They should be ashamed of themselves. Liverpool aint finishing in the Champions League. I don’t think he has Whatsapp [Souness], he’s got a Motorola flip and he’s still on one-to-one, 0956 number.
‘They are going to get slapped [by Real Madrid on Wednesday], they are going to get hurt,’ he added.
Should Liverpool indeed ‘get hurt’ by Madrid then it would be no surprise to see Ferdinand and his former United colleagues enact some payback.
Meanwhile Man United will be back in European action on Thursday when the Red Devils travel to Spain to face Real Betis in their second-leg Europa League tie.
