Premier League clubs have been put on alert after reports that Erling Haaland's agent Mino Raiola is pushing for a January transfer for the Norwegian.

Haaland had been expected to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer, with a release clause in his contract understood to come into effect at the end of the season.

However, a host of top European clubs have now been put on alert after reports suggested that Raiola now wants a January move for the player.

This comes after Dortmund were eliminated from the Champions League at the group stage and will now play Europa League football in the new year.

Since 2018/19, it no longer matters if a new signing for a knockout side has already played in the competition.

El Chiringuito in Spain report, per Le 10 Sport, that Raiola now wants a January move and that he recently spoke with Barcelona president Joan Laporta about a possible transfer.

Eduardo Inda, director of Spanish outlet Okdiario, said in his column: "My impression is that Raiola wants to take him out in the winter market for a simple one.

"If he does not take it out now, he does not play the Champions League. For a super elite player, not playing the Champions League is a real drama. There are four or five interested clubs."

Haaland has a £64million release clause in his contract that can be activated from the end of the season, which had been expected to start a transfer tug of war.

Now, though, it seems the battle to secure his services will come in January with a host of top clubs interested in the 21-year-old.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid join Barcelona as interested parties, while a host of English clubs are understood to be monitoring the situation.

These include Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United, while Chelsea were also linked as recently as this summer.

Haaland has scored four goals in four matches since returning from a hip injury at the end of November to take his tally at Dortmund to 74 goals in 73 appearances.

News of a potential January move comes after Raiola discussed Haaland's potential next club in an interview with Sport1 last Friday.

“It can and will take the next step. Bayern, Real Madrid , Barcelona and Manchester City – those are the great clubs he could join," revealed the super agent.

However, Raiola later clarified these comments by explaining: “I wanted to make the following clear about the Sport1 interview: "The four clubs I mentioned about Haaland's future were just one example.

“When he leaves, he will go to one of the top 15 teams in Europe. Now, Erling is focused only on football, there are no negotiations with any club.

“And I reaffirm what I said: It is not clear that it will happen this summer [transfer window], maybe it will go in the next one.”
