Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reacts to Bruno Fernandes 'shushing' Pep Guardiola
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Bruno Fernandes after his side’s 2-0 win against Manchester City and praised the midfielder’s ‘character’ after he was spotted ‘shushing’ Pep Guardiola.
United were defending a slender one-goal lead going into the dying minutes at Old Trafford and Guardiola wasn’t best pleased with the lack of urgency being shown by the home side when they were awarded a throw-in inside their own half.
Guardiola was clearly frustrated on the sidelines but Fernandes took exception to the Spaniard’s complaints and could clearly be seen ‘shushing’ the City boss by putting a finger to his lips.
‘He works hard, he is humble enough, he’s got the desire and commitment, but he’s also got the X-factor. He is a risk-taker, he’s got the courage to make mistakes and if you make enough mistakes it’ll be corrected into fantastic assists or goals.
‘You need a character here, you need character at this club, but this team they have got that. They have learned through some hard times this season, because we have been a young team and we have started something we believe in and Bruno has helped that.’
The win maintained United’s unbeaten run and extended it to ten matches in all competitions.
They currently occupy fifth place in the Premier League which would currently earn them a place in the Champions League but they’ll be gunning for a higher finish to avoid any uncertainties with Manchester City’s UEFA appeal.
The Red Devils take on top four rivals Tottenham in north London next Sunday in their next Premier League outing.
