Newcastle transfer news: Who are the four players Steve Bruce is trying to sign?

A proposed £300million takeover of Newcastle United edged closer to completion last week with the Premier League’s Owners and Directors test the only remaining hurdle left. The prospective new owners are headed by PCP Capital Partners’ Amanda Staveley but the majority of the backing is set to come from the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.

As a result, the Magpies have been linked with a host of potential transfer targets.

However, it remains to be seen whether the prospective new owners will stick with Steve Bruce.

According to Sky Sports, Mauricio Pochettino is their No 1 choice to become the next manager at St James’ Park.

Elsewhere, Rafa Benitez has been linked with a return to Tyneside, with Flamengo boss Jorge Jesus also being mentioned.

Who are Newcastle trying to sign this summer?

Donny van de Beek (Ajax)

French publication Le10sport claims Newcastle have joined the race to sign the Ajax midfielder.

Van de Beek has kept up his good form this season with eight goals and five assists in the Eredivisie.

However, the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Everton are also said to be interested in the Dutchman.

Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli)

Le10sport also reports that Newcastle have tabled a huge deal to sign Koulibaly.

It’s claimed the Magpies have offered to pay the Senegal international £10.5million (€12m) per year to move to the northeast.

The centre-back has also been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City.

Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona)

Newcastle are the latest club to enter the race for Coutinho, according to Sport, via Goal.

The Brazilian, 27, has struggled to settle at the Nou Camp and looks set to be moved on this summer.

Coutinho has spent the season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he has scored nine goals and provided eight assists in all competitions.

Tete (Shakhtar Donetsk)

According to Globo Esporte, Newcastle are interested in signing the Shakhtar Donetsk forward this summer.

Leicester also said to be monitoring the Brazilian, who has been priced at £60m.

The 20-year-old has impressed this season with five goals and four assists to his name.
