Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a move for two out-of-favour Premier League stars when the transfer window opens in January.
The former Chelsea boss has not been shy when it comes to recruiting players from the English top-flight in recent years, with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Romelu Lukaku joining him in the Italian capital.
Indeed, Roma’s roster also currently includes ex-Fulham and Manchester United defender Chris Smalling as well as former Wolves stopper Rui Patricio.
The tactic has worked to varying degrees, with Abraham enjoying a great run of form in his first season before a lacklustre second was cruelly cut short by injury.
Undeterred, the Roma boss is reportedly ready to swoop for a duo struggling for game time at Stamford Bridge under Mauricio Pochettino, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet reporta that defenders Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr are on his wish list this winter.
Roma may struggle to win the battle for the 24-year-old Chalobah, who has been linked with moves to Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Newcastle United over the past 12 months.
The defender enjoyed a run in the team under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter over the last two seasons but Pochettino has afforded minutes elsewhere this term as he has been sidelined with injury.
Sarr on the other hand, has been unable to breakthrough into the first team since joining the Blues from Ligue 1 side Nice in 2020.
The Frenchman has not added to the eight top-flight appearances he made during the 2021-22 campaign.
He notably escaped Pochettino’s memory when the Argentine was asked about the defender’s future at the club early into his reign, before the player was left out of the Blues’ 25-man Premier League squad.
Mourinho and his side have endured a tough start to the Serie A campaign and currently sit seventh with 18 points from 12 games.
