Mino Raiola denies ’emergency surgery’ claims in Twitter health update to fans

Football super-agent Mino Raiola has denied that he has undergone emergency surgery after releasing a short health update on his Twitter account.

Raiola represents the likes of Manchester United star Paul Pogba, Swedish and AC Milan superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Representing those three, among others, makes him one of the top agents in world football, with the Dutchman notorious for his hard-nosed approach to transfer negotiations.

He has frequently clashed with United over recent seasons by giving interviews in which he has made it clear that Red Devils midfielder Pogba is unhappy with life at Old Trafford.

But while January will be one of the busiest months of his year, his business appeared to take a back-seat on Wednesday.

Ansa and Gazzetta dello Sport reported via the Daily Mail that Raiola had been hospitalised at San Raffaele, where he underwent a ‘very delicate’ surgery.

It was further stated that news of his surgery was a shock to his clients, with Raiola said to be being monitored by doctors.

But Raiola himself has now hit back at those reports, claiming his visit to the hospital was a planned one.

A message containing an update about his routine medical checks was posted on his Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.

“Mino Raiola is undergoing ordinary medical checks that require anestesia. All was planned and no emergency surgery happened,” the statement read.

Following his health checks, Raiola will be keen to get back to work, with Haaland one of his clients who is set to be the subject of intense transfer interest.

Raiola is set to demand a high commission fee when Haaland does leave Signal Iduna Park, something he will also do for Pogba when the Frenchman likely leaves Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Pogba’s contract with United expires in the summer and it appears increasingly unlikely that the World Cup winner will extend his stay in Manchester.
