Man Utd star Paul Pogba responds to sensational Bruno Fernandes performances

Manchester United star Paul Pogba has been training late to try and recover from his ankle injury and finally play with Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford. The World Cup winner has been out of action for the majority of this season.

United beat rivals Manchester City 3-1 yesterday as Fernandes starred again.

And the Manchester Evening News claim Pogba has been doing additional training sessions to get back to action faster.

The midfielder is expected to return to full training next week and give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a boost.

Pogba knows he will have to work hard to win his place back following the impressive performances of Fernandes since he joined from Sporting Lisbon in January.

And according to the Manchester Evening News, the 26-year-old knows he will have to prove himself to get into the team.

Before the win over Manchester City, Solskjaer gave an update on the progress Pogba was making.

“Paul’s still working with the physios outside and he won’t be training with the first-team until next week,” he said.

“And then let’s see how long that will take. He needs time to get his football fitness back.”

Pogba was at Old Trafford and enjoyed the 2-0 win with goals scored by Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay.

After the match he posted on Instagram ‘Manchester is red’ to the delight of fans.

United return to action against LASK in the Europa League on Thursday with Pogba not expected to feature.

After that the Red Devils travel to Tottenham in the Premier League and face a reunion with Jose Mourinho.

Ahead of those matches United captain Harry Maguire has challenged his team-mates to do more after the Manchester derby win.

  • What Dean Henderson has told team-mates about Man Utd transfer

“We need to build on clean sheets. It is a foundation. If we keep a clean sheet, it is a cliche, but, if you keep a clean sheet, it gives you every chance of going on and winning the game,” our skipper told MUTV.

“Eight in 10. Defensively, all season, we have not been a team that has been all over the place and conceding numerous chances. We have never been that team.

“We have conceded sloppy goals at sloppy moments. Set-plays, long-range shots, special goals but, lately, we have cut it out. We have been defending set-plays and I can tell you that is a big bonus.

“It is the key to start picking up good results and that is what we have done.”
