Man Utd star Bruno Fernandes reviewed by Jamie Carragher and Gary Lineker
Manchester United may have failed to win against Everton but that didn’t stop Bruno Fernandes impressing.
The 25-year-old has been one of the best players in the Premier League since his £46m January arrival from Sporting Lisbon, with fans and rivals taking note of his progress.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showed faith in the Portugal international immediately after his arrival in Manchester, with Jamie Carragher and Gary Lineker acknowledging just how much of an influence he has had.
Carragher told Sky Sports: “Fernandes has been the best player on the pitch. I've been really impressed with him."
Roy Keane fumes he’d have ‘lynched’ David de Gea after Man Utd mistake vs Everton
With Lineker posting on Twitter : “More dubious goalkeeping but regardless of that, Bruno Fernandes is terrific.”
Although Jordan Pickford will be disappointed in his failure to save the first-half effort from Fernandes, Solskjaer’s comments on his player before the match show just how highly he is already rated.
He said: “His imagination and his overview, picture, is a couple of seconds ahead of many players.
“It is one of his strengths he knows what he wants to do. He can change his mind in a split-second. That composure has been important.
“I think Bruno will only improve by coming here to a stronger league, stronger opponents and stronger teammates, getting used to us.
“We want to develop that x-factor. He’s come in and impressed everyone but we don’t want to put a limit on what he can do.”
Praise has also flooded in from former fan favourites at Old Trafford, with none more vocal than Paul Scholes.
David de Gea howler sees Man Utd star match unwanted Arsenal and Newcastle record
He told Sky Sports: “He looks a special talent and looks like he can be a hero of the fans as well.
“He has got the right name for it, with the song and stuff.
“But then you think of Eric Cantona and Wayne Rooney, these people who are idolised by the fans, and you hope that in the future he can become as good as them.”
