Man Utd rivalled by Everton for Koulibaly transfer amid fresh Napoli stance

Napoli are reportedly ready to consider selling Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer – but Manchester United are facing surprise competition from Everton for the imposing centre-back.

Koulibaly was reportedly the subject of a £90million bid from United last summer before they turned their attentions to Harry Maguire having been met with a brick wall.

But Napoli have experienced a chaotic season leading to speculation over the future of their defensive lynchpin.

Gazzetta dello Sport now claim club president Aurelio De Laurentiis 'won't avoid negotiations' in the summer, although he is not willing to let Koulibaly go cheap.

Manchester United are again named as an interested party – but it is claimed Carlo Ancelotti could attempt to raid his former club to bring the defender to Everton.

Whilst his season has been blighted by injuries and poor team performances, Koulibaly impressed against Liverpool in the Champions League group stage.

He has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, with the French giants and United considered amongst the most viable financial options.

Corriere dello Sport have reported Koulibaly will demand a big-money deal, increasing his current wage of £100,000-a-week to tempt him to leave Naples.

Whilst he would command a hefty fee, United could see their finances boosted by the departure of Paul Pogba for big money.

The midfielder has been at the centre of a war of words between the club and agent Mino Raiola appearing to indicate a summer exit having spent most of the season on the sidelines.

The club have shown their willingness to break the bank for players they believe to be the right fit, spending a world record fee for a defender on Harry Maguire as well as spending £50million+ on Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes.

They considered Koulibaly the right fit last summer with a monster bid, if reports are to be believed, and renewed interest for a lower price in the summer therefore does not seem out of the question.
