Man Utd reach ‘verbal agreement’ for first January deal as Van de Beek to leave
“It looks a shambles” | Man Utd are out of the Champions League
Manchester United’s business in the January transfer window is firmly underway as they have reportedly struck a verbal agreement for Donny van de Beek to leave the club on loan next month. The Dutch playmaker has struggled to feature this season under Erik ten Hag and his Old Trafford nightmare is set to come to a temporary end.
Fabrizio Romano claims that United and Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have a verbal agreement to send Van de Beek to Germany for the remainder of the season.
There is an option for Frankfurt to sign Van de Beek on loan at the end of his loan spell for £12.8million, excluding add-ons. They will also pay a loan fee to United.
Van de Beek was brought to United with much promise after starring for Ten Hag’s Ajax side, but he has failed to live up to expectations and a reunion with his former boss did not improve his situation at the club.

The 26-year-old suffered a knee injury at the start of the year that ruled him out of the second half of the 2022/23 season, before a loan move to French side Lorient collapsed in the summer.
Van de Beek has remained at United but made only two substitute appearances this season, totalling 21 minutes, and is set to leave to get his career back on track.

Despite making just six Premier League starts in three years, Van de Beek insisted that he does not regret the move to United although confirmed last month that he is ready for a new chapter in his career.
“I need to start playing games very soon – if not at Man United then at another club,” he told The Mirror. “I think I have to be ambitious. I have always been a lover of the game. I am absolutely crazy about football. I earn a good living at United, but money is not my motivation. I want to enjoy my work every day.
“I appreciate even more that I have a fabulous job. I am at a legendary club and I am still proud every day to wear the Manchester United shirt. But I am bursting with energy now that I am top fit again and I am really training like an animal. The time has come to make a different choice.”
