Man Utd player ratings from Derby win as Odion Ighalo shines with FA Cup brace

Odion Ighalo's brace helped Manchester United book their spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the expense of Derby as Wayne Rooney's return against his former club ended in disappointment.

The Championship hosts started brightly against the Premier League giants but Luke Shaw put United ahead after 33 minutes with his second career goal.

The defender's volley bounced into the turf and over Rams stopper Kelle Roos for the opener after Derby failed to clear their lines.

Seven minutes later Ighalo, signed on loan in January as an emergency striker, scored his second United goal to double their lead, finishing low into the corner after collecting Shaw's pass.

Ighalo then doubled his tally with a drilled volley in the second period, making sure of the victory which sets up a quarter-final showdown with relegation-threatened top-flight outfit Norwich.

Here are how the players rated at Pride Park…

Man Utd

Romero 6

Did not look particularly comfortable early on but did not have a great deal to do after that.

Dalot 6

Lacked a bit of finesse and composure in his offensive play but pretty secure.

Bailly 7

Called on when Harry Maguire declared himself lame ahead of the match and let no-one down.

Lindelof 7

Composed in everything he did and will certainly have sterner tests soon.

Shaw 7

Booked. Shrugged aside an early yellow card to make the breakthrough with only the second goal of his career.

Fred 6

Going through a settled spell of form but guilty of trying some over-ambitious passes.

McTominay 6

Relished the physical battle and robust and committed in everything he did.

Mata 6

Captain for the night but occasionally frustrated at not being able to get on the ball enough.

Fernandes 7

Continues to look the part and fast establishing himself as king of the reverse pass.

Lingard 6

Just looks a little short of confidence and too prone to picking the wrong option.

Ighalo 9

MOTM Put himself around to considerable effect, looked sharp and fully deserved his goals.
