The Glazer family’s discontent with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is growing, according to reports. While the club’s American owners do not tend to immerse themselves in United’s football operations, there has been no avoiding the Red Devils’ demise this season, particularly after demoralising home defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City.
Yet Solskjaer remains in the job and for now, still has the backing of the club’s board.
If history is anything to go by, Solskjaer is capable of turning a crisis around having saved his position on more than one occasion since replacing Jose Mourinho in December 2018.
However, United are now in danger of surrendering their Champions League status with the team now five points adrift of the top-four.
Solskjaer’s men have picked up just 17 points – the same as high-flying Brighton – from their opening 11 Premier League matches, winning just five.
According to The Daily Record, the Glazers’ patience is now starting to wear thin.
The report references that the owners believe two five-goal home defeats in the space of a year suggests Solskjaer has produced a United side worth ‘less than sum of its parts.’
While the Glazers are still unanimously unpopular amongst the club’s fan base, they have invested heavily on transfers.
