Teddy Sheringham named Terry Venables as his greatest ever manager with legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson coming a close second.
Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, after Tottenham's emphatic 5-0 victory over Everton in 2022, the ex-England striker, 55, was asked by host David Jones to reflect on who he regarded as the most influential manager in his career.
"I was very lucky to play under some fantastic managers but top of the pile has to be Terry Venables," replied Sheringham. I was playing under him at the peak of my career during my time at Spurs and for England, and obviously playing for Sir Alex at Manchester United, he was unbelievable."

Venables, 80, passed away on Saturday.
Earning his first England cap towards the latter stages of his career, Sheringham was picked by Venables as the preferred strike-partner to Alan Shearer.
Shining at Euro '96, the then-Tottenham forward scored a brace against the Netherlands in the group stage whilst also netting in the penalty shoot-out loss to Germany in the semi-finals.

And Sheringham was full of praise for his former boss when reflecting on how Venables almost ended England's 30-year trophy hoodoo. He had a wonderful way about telling us about what he wanted without confusing issues," added the 55-year-old.
"He had a lovely way of making you feel and then you go out on the pitch, and you feel ten feet tall. He gave you that extra bit of confidence and he had that crafty sort of character, you could have a bit of fun as well and he made you feel relaxed.
"But when you worked, you worked. He was a top tactician that was ahead of his time."
