Liverpool fans urge Jurgen Klopp to take note of Troy Deeney’s brutal comments
Liverpool fans have made a host of demands to Jurgen Klopp about Dejan Lovren after Watford’s Troy Deeney admitted they targeted the centre-back during yesterday’s shock 3-0 win for the Hornets.
The Reds’ unbeaten streak of 44 matches came to a stunning end on Saturday evening as an Ismaila Sarr double was followed by a Deeney strike in Liverpool’s worst performance for years.
Eyebrows were raised when Joe Gomez was dropped for Lovren alongside Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the Kop’s defence to play at Vicarage Road.
And Klopp was made to pay for the gamble as Watford found some huge gaps in the visitors’ backline to score three times.
Speaking after the game, Watford captain and striker Deeney claimed the hosts had planned to avoid trying to take on Van Dijk, and look to create their chances by putting more pressure on Lovren.

“Van Dijk is a class act and, for me, is probably in the top five defenders in the world,” Deeney told Sky Sports.
“It is tough to get anything from him; he is 6ft 6ins, fast and strong, so you try to pick on the weaker of the two.
“I don't want to be disrespectful to Lovren and say he is the weaker of the two but I knew he wanted to fight me as well, and that is my game, so if you want to try and fight me you are going to have to be in for a tough night.

“He did that for the first goal, trying to fight me for the throw-in and then I obviously rolled him and we scored.
“He is trying to fight me instead of watching the ball and we scored.”
Deeney’s comments about how Watford targeted Lovren as the weak link caused several Liverpool fans to question why Lovren was picked to partner Van Dijk, with Gomez and Joel Matip both available for selection.
“Klopp please read this and learn,” one urged.
While a second admitted: “He’s right lovren is c**p.”

“How tf did Lovren get picked over Matip?” a third asked.
And a fourth pointed out: “Fabinho at CB way better than him.”
“Lovren should be sold already. The guy is not meant for LFC,” a fifth added.
A sixth put: “Deeney's eyes must have lit up when he saw the Croat in the tunnel.”
