Everton’s unwillingness to sell striker Richarlison to Paris Saint-Germain may have dealt an indirect blow to Liverpool’s transfer hopes, as the French giants are expected to challenge Jurgen Klopp’s side for the signature of Karim Adeyemi. Rafael Benitez’s side weathered a summer transfer storm from PSG who were very interested in signing the Brazilian forward as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
The France World Cup winner was desperate to depart the Parc des Princes for Real Madrid in the summer.
However, the lateness of Los Blancos’ reported €200m (£169m) bid for the striker, as well as Everton’s reluctance to sell Richarlison resulted in PSG rejecting all approaches for Mbappe.
But Pochettino’s side are reportedly growing resigned to their fate and are believed to be drafting up a list of options to replace the former Monaco forward.
And this is where Everton may have dealt a crushing blow to their fierce Merseyside rivals transfer ambitions, as reports from El Espanol claim the French giants have turned their attention to Liverpool target Karim Adeyemi.

The 19-year-old Red Bull Salzburg forward has enjoyed a stellar start to the season, netting 11 goals in 16 Austrian Bundesliga appearances.
He has also been one of the best players in the Champions League group stages, having found the net three times in four starts for the Austrian giants.
Reports from German outlet Bild claimed the Reds were keeping tabs on Adeyemi in the summer and were even considering a potential move.
However, if their interest has not waned, they will need to move fast as PSG are reportedly ready to table an offer for the young German in the January transfer window.

Many of Europe’s top clubs could be fighting amongst themselves for Adeyemi’s signature, such is the quality he has expressed with Salzburg this season.
Further reports from Sport1 have also claimed Barcelona have since entered the contest for Adeyemi, with new Blaugrana manager Xavi believed to be a huge fan of the 19-year-old.
Meanwhile, the report also claimed Borussia Dortmund are best placed to sign the youngster, who is understood to be interested in a move to the Signal Iduna Park.
Reports encapsulating Liverpool’s interest in Adeyemi have somewhat quietened since the summer.

Nevertheless, there is perhaps a case to argue Klopp’s side need a player in the guise of Adeyemi more than the other European giants in the transfer tussle.
The Reds are facing the prospect of their entire first choice attacking line all departing the club in the summer of 2023.
Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and the imperious Mohamed Salah only have around 18 months left on their current deals.
The Reds may need to move quickly if they want to commit the tripartite to new deals or find long term replacements for them.
Adeyemi could be the perfect player to solve the latter, however, the competition the German teenager could be too much for the Reds.
