Lionel Messi dumped Garnacho on Instagram ‘because of Cristiano Ronaldo’
Alejandro Garnacho's love for Cristiano Ronaldo has cost the Manchester United star a follow on Instagram from Lionel Messi.
The 19-year-old is fresh off scoring one of the greatest goals in Premier League history after dispatching a ridiculous bicycle kick in United's 3-0 victory against Everton in the Premier League over the weekend. The Argentina international displayed his reverence for Ronaldo after using his famous 'Siu' celebration following the goal.
The youngster has made no qualms about his admiration for the Portuguese icon which has seemingly cost him a follow on Instagram from compatriot Lionel Messi, according to Man United legend Rio Ferdinand. The ex-England international explained why he likes Garnacho who he said told him Messi unfollowed him because of his public love for Ronaldo.

On his Vibe with Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: "You know what I like about him? He doesn't give a f***. Garnacho told me that Messi unfollowed him just because he makes no secret of preferring Ronaldo. He comes out, don't care, ‘I'm a Ronaldo man’. Who's the GOAT? Ronaldo. (Even) when he's in the Argentina squad."
The 19-year-old was team-mates with Ronaldo for over a year when the 38-year-old returned to Manchester in 2021 and it was in April 2022 when fans realised the Inter Miami superstar had unfollowed his international team-mate. Garnacho had posted a snap of Ronaldo as he called him the greatest of all-time.

Messi has yet to follow him back on the social media platform despite the pair being team-mates for Argentina while the teenager is certainly still basking in the glow of his stunning finish which Ferdinand claimed was better than Wayne Rooney's famous bicycle kick in the Manchester derby in 2011.
"Garnacho. One was off a shin pad, the other was off his boot. I'm sorry, Wazza," Ferdinand said when asked which finish was better. "I was in my house in the front room with my family and we went ballistic.

"That goal is better than Rooney's. He was running away from the goal, a bit further away from the goal, at an angle. It was unbelievable, breathtaking moment."
