Leicester City fans taunted Wayne Rooney by wearing Jamie Vardy masks at the game dubbed the Wagatha Christie derby.
Last night’s match was supposed to be the first time that Vardy and Rooney were due to go up against each other since their wives’ scandal.
Vardy ultimately missed the game with a knee injury, but it did not stop Leicester fans mocking Rooney during their 3-2 victory over Birmingham City.
Fans were pictured arriving at the game and in the grandstands with Vardy masks, in their bid to wind up the Manchester United legend.
They cranked up their efforts during the game with chants of ‘Rooney, Rooney what’s the score’ and ‘Jamie Vardy, he’s won more than you’ after the Foxes took the lead.

There were also chants of ‘sacked in the morning’ as they piled the misery on the Birmingham City boss.
Foxes fans showed their support for Vardy, whose wife Rebekah lost a libel lawsuit case after Rooney’s wife Coleen alleged that she had leaked stories about her private life to the press.
Rooney and Vardy were team-mates for England – and even played at Euro 2016 together – but were embroiled in the court trial.
Though Vardy wasn’t there to wind up the Birmingham City crowd, his team-mates were able to do so during a dramatic game.
‘It’s good that players can celebrate without worrying about VAR,’ he said. ‘There’s emotion in the game. I got a phone thrown at my head at Anfield once, which just missed me.
‘We kept pushing but we fell a bit short. There is a reason Leicester are top of the league but we competed with them and showed quality.’
Rooney has previously insisted that he and Vardy have ‘no relationship’.
Going into the game, he said: ‘I played with him for England, but I played with many players for England. It’s not someone who I’ve ever had a relationship with, outside of being in a training camp or games.

‘I respect Jamie Vardy a lot, he’s a fantastic player and still has a lot to offer Leicester.
‘What’s important is we don’t get dragged into a sideshow. Everything that’s happened in the past, which everyone is aware of, has been dealt with from a legal point of view. My job is to now focus on Birmingham trying to win the game.’
