Kane told his lack of success ‘serves him right’ with Man Utd keen

‘A dream becomes reality’ – Harry Kane proud in becoming England’s all-time record scorer

Harry Kane has been jokingly told his lack of success ‘serves him right’ for staying at Tottenham so long by former Arsenal star Emmanuel Frimpong. The England international is a Premier League great but, as he enters the peak years of his career, is yet to lift a trophy. And Manchester United are hoping the promise of challenging for silverware can convince the forward into moving to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Kane has spent the entirety of his career at Tottenham, though did want to join Manchester City back in the summer transfer window of 2021.

And Frimpong thinks he’s now paying the price for his loyalty, insisting the 30-year-old will be regretting his decision.

“I can imagine Harry playing for Arsenal and scoring so many goals because Harry Kane is an extraordinary striker and I absolutely love him,” he told Casino Bonus CA.

“It’s such a shame he has scored all those goals in the Premier League and he hasn’t really done anything with them because he has been playing for Tottenham and not won a trophy!

“He’s had an amazing career, but there is no difference between Harry Kane and Emmanuel Frimpong – they’ve both won nothing!

“It serves him right; next time Tottenham come calling, he should run away!

“In all seriousness, let’s be honest and say we have had some absolutely horrible footballers winning the Champions League.

“It doesn’t mean they are better than Harry Kane. Kai Havertz has won the Champions League. Is he a better footballer than Harry Kane? No he is not. Has he had a better career than Harry Kane? No he hasn’t.

“It’s such a shame his teammates haven’t helped him to achieve the stuff his career and his ability have deserved.

“I fully respect Harry Kane; he could have left Tottenham and moved to a better club, but he will instead become like the Steven Gerrard of Spurs.

“The Spurs fans adore him and it is good to see a player sticking with one club.”

Kane’s time at Tottenham could soon be over, however.

United want to land the forward at the end of the season, with Erik ten Hag hunting an upgrade on Wout Weghorst.

Weghorst has bagged just twice since his arrival from Burnley in January, frustrating fans in the process.

United do admire Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen, with the Nigeria international in the form of his life over in Serie A.

Yet Kane, as a striker who is Premier League proven, would tick all the right boxes for the club.

One issue for United is, however, a strained relationship with Tottenham chief Daniel Levy.

Levy was left enraged back in the summer of 2008 when Sir Alex Ferguson raided Spurs for Dimitar Berbatov.

And, in the years since, the Tottenham supremo has flatly refused to let the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld cross the divide.

While United want Kane, however, former Premier League star Alan Hutton believes Tammy Abraham would be a top alternative.

“I really like him,” he said. “I worked with him at Aston Villa, so I’ve seen him up close and personal.

“Not just on the pitch, but off the pitch as well. On the training ground, he works so hard to improve daily.

“He could do so well at a team like Man United, where they’re so in need of a number nine like him.”

He added: “He wouldn’t cost as much as Osimhen, and I think Tammy has got the right experience to fit in and do well at Old Trafford.”
