Jeff Stelling and ‘staggered’ Ally McCoist row over Christmas dinner traditions
Jeff Stelling turned Ally McCoist and a large percentage of the country against him by revealing a controversial opinion on Christmas dinner.
Stelling, 68, departed Sky Sports News and replaced Laura Woods as talkSPORT's new breakfast time radio presenter at the start of the new season. Considering how disappointed fans were when he announced his departure from Soccer Saturday, the football world was happy to hear Stelling's voice would be heard on the airwaves.
However, his popularity may have decreased after he revealed one of his contentious thoughts on Christmas dinner. The former Countdown host told the world he does not have any gravy on his roast dinners.

McCoist was talking about his love for Christmas dinners before Stelling's controversial view bobbed to the surface. The former Rangers boss said: “I’m the first to complain when the turkey is dry. You have the option of soaking it in gravy, I get that, but you do not want a dry turkey."
It was at that moment Stelling dropped his gravy-less bombshell. “I hate gravy Ally,” a rather worried sounding Stelling said. “If the turkey is dry I am in real trouble because I cannot have gravy on turkey."

After saying he was "staggered" by Stelling's revelation, McCoist, 61, added: “There’s no other way for it Jeff, you have alienated yourself from the rest of the country. You have officially alienated yourself. You cannot beat a thick gravy.”
Stelling tried to fight his corner by saying: "It’s like so many things, how do you taste the meat if you have swamped it in either a sauce or gravy? You can’t, and I just love to have the taste.”
Many fans on social media agreed with McCoist, with one fan tweeting: "Having any roast without gravy is a crime." A second said: "Such a shame to ruin a legendary career with one horrendously poor admission."
A particularly startled football and gravy fan also wrote: "Genuinely in shock. There’s people out there that don’t have gravy on their dinner? Has to be a wind up." A fourth also commented: "Jeff has gone from national hero to an outcast here in the blink of an eye. Who doesn't like gravy?"
