Jamie Carragher delivered an instant reaction to Mohamed Salah’s wondergoal for Liverpool in their clash with Chelsea. The Reds travelled to Stamford Bridge needing to win to get their Premier League title challenge back on track following Tuesday’s defeat to Leicester.
Sadio Mane capitalised on a Trevoh Chalobah mistake to fire the visitors into the lead within the first 10 minutes.
Chelsea put Liverpool under intense pressure after that opener as they searched for a route back into the game.
James Milner was forced to make a potentially goal-saving tackle on Mason Mount, while Marcos Alonso blazed a volley over the bar.
But Salah handed his side the perfect response to that pressure from the Blues as the match approached the half-hour mark.
Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold lofted a sublime pass over the top of the Chelsea defence towards Salah on the right wing.

The Egyptian had peeled away from his marker and was surrounded by space as he ran onto Alexander-Arnold’s pass.
Salah took a touch to move into the box, shimmied away from Chelsea left wing-back Alonso before opening his body up.
Though he was shooting from a tight angle, Salah fired above Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy at the near post.
That wondergoal was Salah’s 23rd strike of the season, with the attacker firing the Reds on their title challenge.

Salah is seen by many as being one of the best players currently active in the world amid his performances this term
And Liverpool legend Carragher certainly appears to share that opinion as he delivered an instant reaction to the goal.
“Best in the world,” Carragher tweeted immediately after the Reds star scored as he also tagged Salah’s account in his post.
Though Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have routinely been held up as the world’s best players over more than a decade, it appears that Carragher believes Salah has earned that title.
But while Salah’s goal seemed to put the Reds in control of the Premier League clash, the Blues were able to get themselves back into the game.
First, Mateo Kovacic produced a stunning volley from outside the box that was lofted over Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher to pull a goal back.
Then, as the first-half entered its closing stages Christian Pulisic raced onto the end of Antonio Rudiger’s clearance before chesting the ball down and firing over Kelleher.
That sensational first-half put the game on a fine edge, though Carragher’s reaction to Salah’s wondergoal makes clear his feelings on the Egyptian’s standing in the world.
