Ian Wright rates Liverpool's chances of signing PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe
Arsenal legend Ian Wright says he can ‘definitely see’ Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe making a sensational switch to Liverpool in the future.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the world’s best players after producing stunning displays on a consistent basis for club and country.
Mbappe helped fire France to World Cup glory in 2018 and has won the Ligue 1 golden boot award for the last two seasons.
In recent weeks, the lightning-quick attacker has been linked with a world record £250million move to Anfield which could be financed by Sadio Mane leaving to join Real Madrid this summer.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has even contacted Mbappe’s father and agent, Wilfried, to sound out a potential move for the forward.
Though Mbappe faces the prospect of having to displace Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Mane in Klopp’s side, Gunners great Wright can envisage Mbappe in a Liverpool shirt.
‘You could see Mbappe, at the moment, at Liverpool. You can definitely see that,’ he told Match of the Day’s Top 10 Podcast.
‘If we’re talking about it now, I could see Mbappe at Liverpool but where would he fit into?
‘I think Liverpool are at that level where Mbappe could go to.’
Wright’s former boss, Arsene Wenger, recently claimed Mbappe can overtake Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to become the best player in the world as they reach the end of their careers.
‘Lionel Messi… we’ve never seen players like that who can absolutely be creative in any tight situation,’ Wenger told talkSPORT.
‘These players are now getting to an end – Ronaldo and Messi.
‘It’s now about the next generation and the next generation may be French.
‘At the moment, the leader could be Mbappe.’
