Gemma Owen’s Love Island fella Luca Bish returns to football and joins new club

Gemma Owen's Love Island boyfriend Luca Bish has returned to football after joining a new club this week.

The 23-year-old fishmonger from Brighton finished as runner-up on this summer's series of the popular ITV dating show in a couple with Owen, who is the daughter of former England and Manchester United striker Michael. The couple have since become boyfriend and girlfriend since leaving the villa, prior to Bish's return to non-league football being confirmed on Tuesday.

10th tier Hailsham Town, who play in the Southern Combination Division One, announced the signing prior to their 3-2 Peter Bentley Cup defeat to Crowborough.

Confirming the news on Twitter, the club wrote: “Delighted to announce a new arrival at The Beaconsfield. Previously with Saltdean United, welcome to the #Stringers Luca Bish!”

Bish had spent time with nearby Saltdean United prior to his stint in the villa, playing for their under-23 side under current Hailsham boss Luke Carter.

Carter reacted to the signing on Twitter by writing: “Buzzing to get this over the line in time for tonight! The boy was on fire for me last season before going on loan to the villa for summer!”

Although Saltdean play one level above Hailsham, both sides are based in East Sussex and near to Bish's hometown of Brighton.

His move to Hailsham may have come about following a recent appearance on Soccer AM, where the reality star exhibited his football skills in a drill alongside former footballer Jimmy Bullard and ex-Burnley defender Phil Bardsley.

During the segment, Bish smashed a stunning volley past the keeper and in off the underside of the crossbar after earlier scoring twice with the outside of his foot.

Bish has kept busy since leaving the villa, having also announced he is launching his own YouTube channel, named "The Bish n Chips Show".

He also appeared as a guest on a recent episode of The Football Fill-In, a YouTube series hosted by former Manchester United and Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster.
