The Gunners had recovered from the blow of losing Declan Rice at the interval with what looked like a calf injury by retaking the lead just nine minutes after the restart.
Saka showed typical composure from 12 yards, choosing to slot the ball down the middle of the goal beyond the diving Guglielmo Vicario.
The England international and his teammates celebrated wildly in front of the north bank having appeared to have taken the ascendancy in a typically seesaw derby.
Their joy, however, was short-lived with Tottenham producing an immediate response after Jorginho had been robbed by James Maddison, and the in-form playmaker set-up Son Heung-min for his second goal of the contest.
‘I don’t want to get caught up in an Arsenal over celebrating thing and argument here but when that goal went in from Saka they all went to that corner,’ Neville told Sky Sports.
‘There’s a job to do, they had to concentrate and switch on and focus. They got caught straight away from kick-off.
‘I don’t think it was the time to over celebrate in that corner. It was the time to get back to the halfway line and recognise that this game was far from finished.’
‘His team does carry passion and emotion,’ Neville added as the camera centred on a frustrated Mikel Arteta.
‘He had easy passes on Jorginho and Maddison just sacks him. It’s a sweet finish from Son.’
