Fernandes has sent Man Utd a message about Pogba, explains Scholes

Manchester United have found a replacement for Paul Pogba in Bruno Fernandes.

That's the opinion of Paul Scholes, who thinks Manchester United can now sell the World Cup winner this summer without fear the decision will come back to bite them.

January singing Fernandes opened the scoring for the Red Devils from the penalty spot in Thursday night's 5-0 demolition of Club Brugge in the Europa League.

The goal was his second in consecutive matches, after the Portuguese netted from the penalty spot in Sunday's 3-0 win over Watford in the Premier League.

United great Scholes has been impressed with what he's seen from Fernandes, and reckons the midfielder is more than capable of taking the reins from Pogba as the club's focal point.

"I think the fact that the last couple of weeks nobody has mentioned Pogba coming back into the team speaks volumes about what Fernandes has brought to the team," Scholes said on BT Sport.

"He's probably brought what you expected from Pogba over the last couple of years, which hasn't quite materialised. I think the balance of the team looks really good.

"He's playing Matic and Fred, I know it was McTominay tonight, but those two sitting there allowing Fernandes the freedom has really worked for them. I don't think you go away from that when it's working.
