Fans left speechless as Arsenal charge £14 for a burger – and chips cost extra

Arsenal may have been victorious on the pitch on Wednesday night but they were savaged off it, with their food prices ripped into by furious fans.

The Gunnersbeat West Ham 2-0at the Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe.

Victory moved them past the Hammers and up to fourth place in the Premier League for the first time in 14 months.

It was a significant step for Arsenal, who have managed to stay on track despite the fallout aroundstripping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the captaincy.

But while some fans were busy singing the praises of homegrown talents Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, some were focused on something completely different.

Food at football stadiums has become a point of interest for many supporters, with social media accounts popping up to share the good, the bad and the ugly.

Generally the best content comes from non-league clubs selling tasty stuff for low prices, but the platforms are also used to criticise Premier League clubs for their low standards.

Wednesday night saw Arsenal in the crosshairs for selling what appears to be straightforward fast food classics at hugely inflated prices.

@FootyScran shared a photo of Arsenal’s double bacon cheeseburger alongside a picture of the menu which reveals a nasty truth: it will set you back a whopping £14.30.

If you would like the accompanying chips, the menu states you can “add fries for only £3.75”.

Needless to say, this information did not go down well in the comments, with football fans sharing their disgust and taking the opportunity to crack some jokes.

“Not surprised considering you need to take out a mortgage to buy a season ticket down there. Scandalous place,” one fan wrote.

“For £18.05 I want to be eating that in the dressing room, listening to the halftime team-talk before heading up to my heated seat in the directors box,” added another.

“How much to have your pants pulled back up?” joked one fan.

“And you will have to watch Arsenal as well,” wrote another.

“Knew my club was full of scammers. we got told we'd continue to get an amazing aubameyang and we've ended up paying 18 quid for a burger with chips to cover his wages only for him to get stripped of the captaincy,” added another, very seriously.

“That's the transfer budget sorted,” said another.
