Fans fume as anticipated Finalissima between Italy and Argentina behind pay-wall
Football fans have been left fuming after discovering Wednesday evening's Finalissima will be broadcast behind a paywall on Premier Sports.
The Finalissima – which was relaunched in 2020 – will pit the Champions of Europe against the Champions of South America together in a one-off fixture. However, fans hoping to catch Italy and Argentina on Wednesday evening will have to subscribe to Premier Sports.
And some fans have been left fuming at the prospect of another streaming service showing the clash. This season's Premier League was already spread across three platforms – with a fourth showing highlights – leading to frustration among fans.
One tweeted: "Why is the only place to watch it [the Finalissima] Premier Sports ffs why isn't it on like Sky or something."
"Finalissima is on Premier Sports, why tf isn’t it on Sky/BT/BBC/ITV," a second fumed. While a third added: "Shame the Finalissima isn't being shown free on tv in the UK."
The Finalissima is something of a coup for Premier Sports – who have also landed the rights to show the Nations League this summer and the 2024 Euros qualifiers.
