Ex-Saints player Lemina’s account shares Mendy image ahead of rape trial

Former Southampton and Fulham midfielder Mario Lemina's account shared picture of Manchester City's Benjamin Mendy ahead of his rape trial.

Alleged rapist Mendy, 27, has been remanded at Liverpool's Category B prison HMP Altcourse since October 1 after having three requests of bail denied.

It was confirmed on Tuesday by Cheshire police the Frenchman has had two more counts of rape added to his charge sheet to go with the initial four counts of rape, as well as a sexual assault.

Following the announcement the account belonging to Lemina, who now plays for OGC Nice in France, uploaded image of Mendy in an Instagram story.

The snap of him playing for City was accompanied by four 'strong arm' emojis.

Lemina played alongside Mendy for Marseille in the 2015/16 season as he spent a year on loan in Ligue 1 from Juventus.

Both ended up playing in the Premier League.

Southampton signed Lemina from Juventus in the same transfer window that City bought Mendy from Monaco, in 2017.

After losing his spot in the Saints team, the Gabon international spent a campaign with Fulham before leaving permanently in the summer.

Daily Star Sport has contacted Lemina's club for a response.
