Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has made it clear he’s planning for the summer transfer window – regardless of a potential takeover at Old Trafford. The Red Devils continued their charge towards Champions League football with a 2-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday. Goals from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho gave them all three points, with the team returning to winning ways after recent defeats to the likes of Brighton and West Ham.
Manchester United went ahead against Wolves in the 36th minute, with Martial striking from close range after Antony squared it to his team-mate.
And Garnacho came off the bench to make an impact, doubling his side’s lead late on to secure victory.
United won at a time when takeover speculation continues to engulf the club, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly leading Sheikh Jassim in that battle.
And Ten Hag, speaking after the game, has stated he’s planning for the summer transfer window regardless of who is in power.
“I will go for high standards so I am planning my squad for next season in the background,” he said.

“It is up to others to decide if the finances are there.”
The United boss also hailed Garnacho for his heroics, insisting the goal will give the youngster confidence as he continues to grow in stature.
“He got a bad tackle, he worked hard and straight away made an impact,” stated the Dutchman.
“We have seen that many times this season from the bench. It will give him confidence.”
He also said: ”Vital (win). We had to bounce back after defeats and individual mistakes.

“We had no energy. Today we had to win and we did it.
“We are very good in making the [opposition] goalkeeper man of the match!
“It happened today and at Brighton. We need better conversion, definitely.
“We have to match the highest standards – winning games. But I heard United don’t do it the easy way, that is in the DNA.”
Another player involved in United’s win was Bruno Fernandes, who registered an assist by creating the goal for Garnacho.

And the Portugal international was happy with the victory, though has called on his team-mates to get the job done as they seek a top four finish.
“We did our job. We needed to get the three points and win the game,” said the stand-in skipper.
“After two defeats, we knew how important it was to get the momentum back to our side.
“We did a professional game and could have scored more. Their keeper had a really good game to keep Wolves in the game.
“It wasn’t a case of wasting our chances. Their keeper did a really good job. We have to compliment him.”
Next up for United is Bournemouth next Sunday.
And the Cherries will be hoping to bounce back after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Eberechi Eze was the hero for the Eagles, scoring twice as his side continued their rise under Roy Hodgson.
Eze reacted to his side’s win by saying: “When Wilf is on the ball, you always know something is going to happen. I just had to put myself in the right position.
“I just feel like I am more free, he [Hodgson] has given me licence to run at people. Under him I do my best to positively effect the games.”
